Today the AP top 25 college football poll came out early. And in that poll, the University of Washington Huskies moved up one to #9, putting them in the top ten in the final regular season poll.
Utah, who they beat in the Pac-12 Championship, dropped to #20 from #17. And Washington State University stayed the same at #12.
But the AP poll isn't what matters these days. It's the CFP committee rankings. The top six were announced at 9:30 AM PST. Those are #1 Alabama, #2 Clemson, #3 Notre Dame, and #4 Oklahoma. No surprises there. They also announced #5 Georgia and #6 Ohio State.
And in the CFP rankings, the Huskies are also #9 WSU is #13 which leaves them out of the six New Years bowls. Utah is #17. Both WSU and Utah should get good bowls, but not a New Years one.
The Huskies will likely play #6 Ohio State in the Rose Bowl. We'll be the underdogs in that game. The "New Year Six" will be announced at noon PST so we won't know for sure until then.
UPDATE: Yes, it's confirmed: the Huskies will play Ohio State in the Rose Bowl on New Years Day. The game is at 2;00 PM PST (5:00 PM EST) on ESPN.
